Eurovision 2020
AI Song Contest

With the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, all eyes (and ears) were on the 13 teams from all over the world competing for douze points in the Eurovision AI Song Contest
The sole Australian entry, entitled Beautiful the World was composed by training neural nets on a data set of 200 Eurovision songs, which created lyrics and melodies.
Team Uncanny Valley included members from UNSW and RMIT and used a  machine learning process called DDSP to blend audio samples of Australian animals including koalas, kookaburras and Tasmanian devils to create a unique synthesiser which was used in the final production (special thanks to Google CL Sydney).
The AI Song Contest provided an unprecedented opportunity for the global AI community to share current processes and highlight the discussion around the evolving use of technology in music.
